Purple has twenty plus (20+) years of experience working with teenagers and adults with mental health and substance use issues.
Purple grew up in Hong Kong and holds a B.A (Hon) degree in Business Studies. She worked in the marketing field for the first ten (10) years of her career. In her spare time, Purple was a youth leader for 12 years working with adolescents and young adults in her church. Before coming to Canada, Purple worked as a parent-worker in a special school providing education and training for adolescents with emotional and mental health needs.
Purple received her counselling and theology training at Tyndale University. She has a Master of Divinity with a major in counselling.
Purple is trained as a marriage and family therapist. She is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and trained in Mindfulness, Focusing, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, Emotion Focused Therapy and Behavioral Couple Therapy for substance use. Purple is a freelance consultant and speaker for various churches. She is the convener of the Working Group for the Promotion of Mental Health in Faith Communities. She has conducted training sessions in family education and support for mental illness, parenting your adolescent children, strengthening marriages for Christians, navigating the mental health system in Ontario in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Purple’s passion is to empower people with mental health challenges to live a full life and to provide education to families and friends in supporting recovery.

Education and Training
Purple has a Masters Degree of Theology in Counselling from Tyndale University. She is a clinical fellow of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT). She is a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario. Her post-graduate training includes: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Certification, mindfulness meditation, focusing, addiction assessment and motivational interviewing, adolescents and adults mental health and trauma treatment.
Clinical Experience
Purple has over twenty (20) years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents. She worked as a dorm-parent at a boarding school for adolescents with mental health and emotional needs, Community Worker for the Transitional Employment Program for people with severe mental illness, and Adult Treatment Counsellor for addiction. She is a part time Family Worker for the First Episode of Psychosis and Coordinator of Family Education and Support at Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO).

Purple is a member in good standing with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT). She is a clinical fellow and a clinical supervisor. She holds membership with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
Purple is the convenor of the Working Group for the Promotion of Mental Health in Faith Communities.
